IL-KELMA PROFETIKA TAL-ĠISEM UMAN
Diskors ta’ Mons Isqof Mario Grech
Konferenza Nazzjonali dwar “Is-Sbuħija tal-Ġisem. Lejn it-Teologija tal-Ġisem”
Grand Hotel, Għajnsielem, 30 ta’ Ottubru 2010

L-esperjenza tixhed li fil-ħajja tagħna l-bnedmin ħafna tensjonijiet ġew ikkalmati, żbalji kkorreġuti u kunflitti żarmati għax kien hemm medjazzjoni tajba. Ir-rwol tal-medjatur huwa vitali biex ikun hemm komunikazzjoni u hekk wieħed jasal għal għarfien tal-verità u jistabilixxi relazzjoni sinċiera u dejjiema. Meta l-medjazzjoni tkun fqira jew fallaċi jiddgħajfu r-relazzjonijiet u jkun hemm ħerba.

Fil-ħajja ordinarja tagħna l-ġisem uman huwa “medjatur” singulari biex il-bniedem jidħol f’komunjoni personali u rispettuża mal-oħrajn u jagħraf lilu u jaċċetta lilu nnifsu. Meta din il-medjazzjoni korporja hija żbaljata jew forsi wkoll nieqsa, il-kwalità tal-ħajja umana tbati. Huwa fatt li ċerti nies huma mdejqin għax mhumiex kuntenti bihom infushom, bħal fil-każ ta’ meta mhumiex komdi bil-fiżiku tagħhom u bl-orjentament sesswali tagħhom. Hemm oħrajn li jħallu l-egoiżmu tagħhom jifgahom tant li, billi ma jirnexxilhomx jidħlu f’relazzjoni ma’ ħaddiehor, għandhom diffikultà biex jagħrfu lilhom infushom u jingħalqu fihom infushom. Hemm imbagħad irġiel u nisa li, għalkemm iħossuhom li għandhom jidħlu f’relazzjoni ta’ mħabba ma’ persuni ta’ sess divers, għandhom diffikultà biex jaċċettaw lil ħaddiehor. Għandna koppji miżżewġa li jagħmlu ħajjithom infern għaliex ma jafux jirrelataw ma’ xulxin, anqas intimament! Fost iż-żwiġijiet li jfallu, hemm dawk li jibdlu lill-mara jew lir-raġel għas-sempliċi raġuni li ma jaċċetawx il-fatt li l-ġisem tas-sieħeb jew tas-sieħba għandu l-istorja tiegħu u għalhekk jitlef il-faxxinu tiegħu – għalhekk jitilfu lill-mara jew lir-raġel biex isibu ġisem iżgħar fl-età! Ukoll il-mod kif qed naħsbu dwar il-produzzjoni tal-ħajja umana u kif jidhrilna li nistgħu niddisponu mill-ħajja fl-ewwel fażijiet tat-tnissil, juri x’kunċett għandna tal-ġisem tal-bniedem.

Bżonn ta’ bilanċ fil-familja – Imħabbra uffiċċjalment Ittra tal-Papa Benedettu XVI
Messaġġ ta’ Mons Isqof Mario Grech
Seminar għall-membri tal-Kummissjonijiet Parrokkjali Familja, Koppji animaturi Mixja Għarajjes u Saċerdoti responsabbli
Ċentru ta’ Kana, Rabat, Għawdex – Is-Sibt 25 ta’ Settembru 2010

Meta  dalgħodu (is-Sibt 25 ta’ Settembru 2010) fiċ-Ċentru ta’ Kana, Victoria, Għawdex, l-Isqof Mario Grech ikkonkluda Seminar organizzat mill-Kummissjoni Familja tad-djoċesi t’Għawdex għall-koppji li qed iwettqu ħidma pastorali fil-parroċċi mal-għarajjes u l-familji, huwa wassal dan il-messaġġ:

“In-nuqqas ta’ bilanċ bejn ix-xogħol u l-ħin hieles qed ikun kawża ta’ problemi fil-ħajja tal-koppji u tal-familji. Il-kompetizzjoni tas-suq u l-mira li jinkiseb il-profitt massimu qed iwasslu biex mhux biss ikunu ssagrifikati d-drittijiet tal-ħaddiem, imma wkoll id-drittijiet tal-familja! Mhux biss dejjem qed jitnaqqar il-ħin liberu li wieħed jista’ jiddedika għall-familja, imma xi drabi hemm fostna imprendituri li jorganizzaw huma stess il-ħin liberu tal-ħaddiema tagħhom b’mod u manjiera li jfixklu l-ħajja taż-żwieġ u l-familja!

Aktar etika fid-dinja tal-finanzi

Meta nhar is-Sibt filgħodu, 18 ta’ Settembru 2010 sar il-ftuħ u t-tberik tal-fergħa tal-APS Bank fir-Rabat Għawdex, l-Isqof Mario Grech għamel dan id-diskors:

“Huwa fatt pożittiv ħafna li l-bank APS, meta qed ifakkar l-ewwel mitt sena tiegħu, fetaħ mill-ġdid il-fergħa tiegħu f’Għawdex wara ħidma estensiva ta’ ristrutturazzjoni. Din il-fergħa tfisser il-preżenza tal-APS fil-gżira t’Għawdex u l-interess tal-bank biex jindirizza l-issues partikulari tal-gżira Għawdxija.

Fuq livel nazzjonali, il-bank APS, barra li qed jagħti servizzi finanzjarji li jġibu ’l quddiem l-interessi tal-klijenti u l-ekonomija tal-pajjiż, huwa kommess li jsaħħaħ il-bażi etika fl-attività bankarja. Din il-viżjoni tal-APS tagħmel ħafna sens speċjalment meta wieħed iqis dak li jgħid il-Papa Benedettu XVI li kull deċiżjoni ekonomika għandha l-konsegwenzi morali tagħha. Infatti, minħabba n-nuqqas ta’ pedament etiku sod, dan l-aħħar l-attività ekonomika għabbiet lil miljuni ta’ nies b’diffikultajiet kbar!

IL-MARA EDUKATRIĊI TAL-QALB U TAL-ISPIRTU

Fl-okkażjoni tal-Jum Dinji ta’ talb għan-nisa kattoliċi, organizzat mill-Azzjoni Kattolika fid-djoċesi t’Għawdex ilbierah it-Tlieta 17 ta’ Mejju 2010, l-Isqof Mario Grech mexxa konċelebrazzjoni fid-Dar Ċentrali tal-Azzjoni Kattolika u fl-omelija wassal dan il-messaġġ:

Fil-familja, il-mara hija edukatriċi tal-qalb u tal-ispirtu. Filwaqt li l-formazzjoni intellettwali tista’ tigi delegata lil ħaddieħor, bħalma jiġri meta nibagħtu lil uliedna fl-iskejjel, il-formazzjoni affettiva u dik spiritwali fil-familja hija ħidma partikulari tal-mara.

Il-Ħsieb wara l-azzjoni dwar iż-żwieġ
Diskors ta’ Mons Isqof Mario Grech
Konferenza Nazzjonali “Biex iz-żwiġijiet u l-familji ma jibqgħux jitkissru” fl-okkażjoni ta’ Jum il-Familja (‘Rolling back the tide of marriage breakdown’)
Lukanda Phoenicia – Is-Sibt, 15 ta’ Mejju 2010

Dijanjożi ta’ pazjent tieħu f’kunsiderazzjoni kemm is-sintomi tal-marda, kif ukoll il-kawża ta’ dawk l-effetti! Tkun miżura dgħajfa jekk wieħed jikkura l-ġerħat ta’ persuna diabetika, mingħajr ma jindirizza l-marda tad-diabete!

Inħoss li dan qed jiġri wkoll fostna meta nitkellmu dwar it-tisħiħ taż-żwieġ u l-familja. Huwa importanti li wieħed jitfa’ dawl fuq il-periklu ta’ forom emerġenti tal-familja, dwar kruha tat-tifrik tal-familji, id-divorzju, il-koabitazzjoni, il-permessività sesswali, eċċ. Imma nemmen li dawn huma biss sintomi soċjali li, aktar milli għandhom jiġu indirizzati bħala diffikultajiet fihom infushom, hemm bżonn nintebħu x’inhu l-isem tal-marda. Dawn il-problemi matrimonjali u familjari huma l-effett ta’ kawża eżistenzjali wisq aktar profonda u aktar wiesgħa. Nifhem li l-azzjoni urġenti li teħtieġ is-soċjetà tagħna hija li bis-serjetà tindividwalizza l-għerq li kontinwament qed innibbet fergħat ġodda li huma bgħula.

Diskorsi li saru waqt ic-ċerimonja li saret fir-Rabat, Malta fl-okkażżjoni taż-żjara tal-Papa Benedittu XVI f’Malta

Il-Maltin “biddlu l-ħsieb”
Messaġġ tal-Isqof Mario Grech fi tmiem il-pellegrinaġġ nazzjonali li sar ilbieraħ f’San Pawl il-Baħar

Għamilna dan il-pellegrinaġġ flimkien biex nirringrazzjaw lil Alla għall-fatt li 1950 sena ilu persuna straordinarja rifset fuq xtutna. Qed nirreferi għal San Pawl Missierna. Kien straordinarju għax kien ministru t’Alla u appostlu ta’ Ġesù Kristu! In-nawfraġju ta’ Pawlu f’pajjiżna kien l-okkażjoni biex din il-persuna straordinarja wasslitilna messaġġ straordimarju: il-Bxara t-Tajba ta’ Ġesù Kristu.

Fl-Atti tal-Appostli naqraw li meta l-Maltin laqgħu lil Pawlu u l-messaġġ tiegħu u indunaw b’din l-istraordinarjetà, “huma biddlu l-ħsieb” (Atti 28,6), fis-sens li bdew jirraġunaw b’mod differenti.

WELCOME ADDRESS BY HIS LORDSHIP MARIO GRECH BISHOP OF GOZO
VALLETTA WATERFRONT
18TH APRIL 2010

PDF Version

WELCOME ADDRESS BY HIS LORDSHIP MARIO GRECH
BISHOP OF GOZO
VALLETTA WATERFRONT
SUNDAY 18TH APRIL 2010
Your Holiness,
I greet you in the name of our Country’s and our Church’s cherished treasure, the young people of Malta and Gozo. Being our present and future, they are our most priceless resource.  Their numerous presence here this evening uplifts us, but at the same time reminds us of our grave responsibility in their regard.  It would indeed be a pity if the questions which percolate in their hearts were not properly addressed.

Their impressive turn out for this special encounter with you as the Vicar of Christ on Earth confirms their search for an answer to a deeply-rooted religious question: Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?  (Mk.10, 17)

Although in our country inheritance is a matter of high priority and causes undue tension within families, nowadays the Christian faith is no longer automatically passed on from one generation to the other.  Even though the transmission of faith from parents to offsprings or from one religious community to another is still of vital importance, it has become postively more common that the choice to let God in one’s life is increasingly achieved as a result of a personal search and choice.

In the process of this religious search, many of our young people have found themselves in a process of continuous spiritual migration.  The craving for God leads them from one spiritual experience to another which although exciting does not quench this thirst. Additionally this
search by young people is characterised by a separation of the ethical from the religious aspects – perhaps there is a growing tendency to consider religion as a feel-good sentiment which does not involve an interior spiritual and ethical journey which leads man to better himself in his relationship with God and with his brethren.

So today, more than ever before, the question of the rich young man of the Gospel becomes even more pertinent: Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?.

Your Holiness, while I assure you that this young generation has a healthy attitude to life like that expressed by the rich young man who approached Jesus, and that their questions are authentic; it may be that some of these young people need support and encouragement more than others because:

 like the rich young man of the Gospel, some may have built a false sense of security in their rigid observance of the law and ritual norms and refuse a loving commitment to God and neighbour, even at a high personal cost.  In such cases there is the hazard that belief turns into an empty religiosity, a matter of culture and tradition rather than a choice of life;

 like the rich young man of the Gospel, compelled by the materialistic culture and the pressures of our modern economic system, some are finding it taxing to make choices which would guarantee them a treasure in Heaven;

 like the rich young man, since human nature is proud and nourishes illusions of self-sufficiency and autonomy, some do not easily understand that they should allow God to infuse their life with His love by surrendering themselves to Him in complete trust and like St. Paul declare that the love of God compels them on.

Good Teacher, Your Holiness, notwithstanding all this, our young people are full of life and are keen to hear from you a word of encouragement to help them live with dignity. Unfortunately, sometimes they place their confidence in other teachers because they think that these can offer them a better way of life, but they are invariably betrayed.

In spite of those who militate to eradicate our trust in you, we are convinced that Your Holiness has the words of eternal life because you bring us face to face with the incarnated Word; with Jesus Christ who is eager to cast his loving gaze on us all.  As you yourself rightly state in your first encyclical, being a Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty ideal, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction. (Deus caritas est, n.1).

Mgħallem tajjeb, x’għandna nagħmlu biex nirtu l-ħajja ta’ dejjem?
Good Teacher what must we do to inherit eternal life?
