On the occasion of the Pauline Year, on Sunday, 8 February 2009, just two days before the celebration of the Feast of the Shipwreck of Saint Paul in Malta,  a catechetical celebration will be held in seven Valletta churc hes, in what is being described as a Pauline Walk.
Archbishop Mgr. Paul Cremona O.P. and Archbishop Emeritus Mgr. Joseph Mercieca will be presiding over a Liturgy of Prayer at St. Paul’s Shipwreck Church at 4.30pm, 5.15pm and 6.00pm.

Seven other churches will see celebrations in various forms inspired by subjects related to the Letters of St. Paul.  These include drama, music and mime.  At the same time, priests specialised in Bible study will deliver a short catechetical presentation.

The churches where these celebrations are going to be held are the following: Our Lady of Carmel Church, Jesuit Church, St. Dominic Church, St. Augustrine Church,  Ta’ Ġieżu Church, St. Francis Church and St. James Church.

The first celebration in these seven churches will be held at 3.00pm.  The celebration will be repeated in each and every church every three quarters of an hour: 3.45pm, 4.30pm, 5.15pm and 6.00pm.  This is intended to make it possible for people to go from one church to another and participate in different experiences.

The chapels at the Monasteries of St. Ursula and St. Catherine will be open for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in silence.

In the open spaces of Bieb il-Belt and Castile, in front of the Court Building, the Palace and the Valletta Market, as well as in the streets leading to the churches where celebrations are to be held, members from religious movements and associations will be singing religious hymns and offering information to the public about the activities of the day.

The celebrations will be followed by Mass in a number of churches.
